The Ordino-Arcalis ski resort is located in the north of the country, near the French border. One of the best ways to get here is to fly to either Toulouse (France) or Barcelona (Spain) and transfer by coach or hire car; the latter is certainly the most convenient option for many. You can also get here by rail and bus combination from the UK, or drive all the way.
Both Barcelona and the Toulouse-Blagnac airports are virtually equidistant from Ordino village, at just over 200kms each. Buses go from both airports direct to the resort. Buses from Barcelona’s El Prat de Llobregat Airport leave between terminals A and B at 10:30, 13:00, 17:00 and 19:45, and cost €30 (one-way), and €56 (return). Buses from Toulouse Airport leave at 10:00 and 18:30.
The only way into Andorra is by road. The major automobile routes into and out of Andorra include: the CG1 from Spain and the CG2 from France. If you take the latter, you’ll pass through the unforgettable Port d’Envalira, the highest pass in the Pyrenees (2,410m). The route from Calais is 1,189kms via the cities of Paris, Limoges and Toulouse.
From Toulouse, the main highways are the A-64, D-919 and the CG2. From Barcelona, the A-18 leaves the city to merge with the C-1411 at Manresa, and carries on north to take in the N-260, N-145, CG1 and the CG3 into Ordino.
By train, the closest French station to Andorra is L’Hospitalet-près-l’Andorre, two hours south of Toulouse. From there, daily buses make the two-hour trip to Andorra la Vella, from where Cooperativa Interurbana buses go to Ordino and beyond. The nearest Spanish railway station is 76kms east of Ordino at Puigcerdà. It has daily bus connections to La Vella, via Seu d’Urgell.
Daily Eurostar trains run from London’s Waterloo Station (17:09) to Paris du Nord Station (20:59). From Paris’ Austerlitz Station, an overnight train (21:56) goes to L’Hospitalet-près-l’Andorre, arriving at 07:25 the next day. Regular buses run to Andorra la Vella from here.
Buses from France to Andorra leave from the railway stops of L’Hospitalet, La Tour de Carol and Ax-les-Thermes. Buses from Spain leave from Barcelona, Burgos, Madrid, Tarragona, Tuy, Valladolid and Zaragoza.
